Anne Michael is from the north coast of Ireland. A multi-disciplinary artist, her work diverges between abstract painting and conceptual installations such as audio, video, sculpture and text.
Her paintings springboard from the intimacy of 'self', the internal dialogue and search for connection.
The 3D, audio, video and text are investigations into the absurdities or authenticity of life. Often using social constructs as a starting point she will identify a narrative and question the purpose that it serves.
These parallel themes dealing with internal and external existence, share significance in navigating an ever shifting sense of place.
In addressing each project, Anne may employ a range of crafts, or no craft, current technologies or 'ready mades', random actions or accepted procedures, that result in a body of work, which defies authorship.
